NTR Kathanayakudu review

NTR Kathanayakudu is simply the journey of Nandamuri Tarakarama Rao from an ordinary employee to the charismatic movie legend who earned the demigod status. The film showcases NTR’s journey from 1947 from the point of view of his wife Basavatarakam. How he struggled, in the beginning, to get film opportunities and later how he conquered the industry turning into iconic personality. The film showcases the main incidents and movies happened in NTR’s film career and ends launching Telugu Desam Party.

Nandamuri Balakrishna the son of NTR is the only actor who can do this challenging film. Balakrishna worked really hard and simply lived the role as NTR we can say. His getup’s as younger NTR could have been better but rest is perfect in every way. Acting wise Balakrishna did excellent performance regarding his expressions, mannerisms and body language he makes us believe that we are watching NTR on screen. Vidya Balan is the perfect choice for the role of Basavatarakam and she also lived the role. Her expressions speak everything in the film. Kalyan Ram is good in his father Hari Krishna’s role. Remaining actors Prakash Raj, Murali Sharma, Daggubati Raja, Nitya Menon, Pranitha Subhash, Vennela Kishore, and others did a good job in their roles.

Technical Aspects:

The production values of the film are good NBK has done a great job. The songs of the film composed by Keeravani are good and lyrics well supported the tunes. Background scores are fabulous and should worth mention. Cinematography done by Gnanvel Raja is good and showcased Balakrishna in a good way. The art department also needs special mention that they did a fine job in recreating the vintage environment. Dialogues written by Burra Sai Madhav are fantastic and definitely stores in our brains. Lighting work done is also good. Editing of the film is decent.

  • Lack of depth
  • A bit slow in pace

Final Verdict:

On a whole NTR Kathanayakudu, the first part of NTR Biopic is the journey of legendary NTR into films which mainly focuses on his personal life and film career. This film is definitely a tribute to the iconic personality NTR. Balakrishna, Vidya Balan, and other actors did splendid performances. The film starts from the point of view of Basavatarakam and ends on a high note where NTR announces Telugu Desam Party. The film builds up towards the end and ends with an interesting climax. Director Krish did a good job in handling the film but the film is a bit slow in pace. Overall, NTR Kathanayakudu is an honest effort made as a tribute to NTR so one can watch the film without expectations this weekend.

Bottom Line: Watch it for the honest effort and fine performances.
